EN. Seheno will release her 3rd album on September 25 2026.
For this new project, she has opted for a digital release and a limited-edition version on recycled vinyl.
Environmental protection and careful consideration regarding the production methods for her physical albums have been central to her commitments since her debut. Together with her partner, Prabhu Edouard, she co-founded a label that stands as a pioneer in using recycled materials for physical album production.
Seheno’s first album, released in 2009 (KA—featuring a round CD case made of recycled cotton), was the result of a collaboration with artisan bookbinders in Kolkata, India; the entirely handmade production utilized recycled paper.
Time spent with her father in the Malagasy countryside during her childhood made her aware—at an early age—of environmental issues and the fragility of both nature and humanity and the interconnection of both.
Rather than simply acknowledging the situation, she chose to take action at her own level, starting with her music. Her lyrics often touch upon nature and our changing world; in her productions, she reduce her carbon footprint as much as possible by using recycled or recyclable materials and powering her studio with renewable energy.
Through her music, she highlights that individual actions alone will not suffice to reverse global warming, that local youth need better information regarding the environmental impact of certain practices (such as slash-and-burn agriculture, Tavy), and that climate inaction by decision-makers is exacerbating the crisis.
Nevertheless, for Seheno, being committed also means nurturing a capacity for contemplation and wonder regarding nature, in order to protect the remaining biodiversity for ourselves and for future generations. The earth nourishes the body, but it nourishes the soul as well.

Pour ce nouveau projet elle a choisi une sortie digitale et en vinyle
recyclé, en édition limitée.
La protection de l’environnement et une réflexion poussée sur le mode
de production de ses albums physiques font partie de ses engagements
depuis son premier album. Avec son compagnon, Prabhu Edouard, le
label qu’ils ont créé figure parmi les pionniers dans l’utilisation de
matériaux recyclés pour la production physique de leurs albums.
Le premier album de Seheno sortie en 2009 (KA, boitier CD rond en
coton recyclé) était le fruit d’une collaboration avec des artisans-relieurs
de Kolkata (Inde) qui travaillaient sur du papier recyclé, une production
entièrement fait-main.
Dans son enfance, ses séjours avec son père dans la campagne
malgache l’ont sensibilisée très tôt aux problèmes liés à l’environnement
et la fragilité de la nature et de l’homme.
Plutôt que de rester dans le constat, elle a préféré agir à son niveau en
commençant par la musique. Ses textes évoquent souvent la nature et
notre monde en mutation, pour ses productions elle limite autant que
possible son empreinte carbone par l’utilisation de matériaux recyclés ou
recyclables, et également par l’utilisation d’énergie renouvelable dans
son studio.
Par sa musique, elle pose le constat que les actes individuels seuls ne
suffiront pas à faire reculer le réchauffement climatique, que les jeunes
populations locales ont besoin d’être plus informées sur l’impact de
certaines coutumes (culture sur brûlis, Tavy…) sur l’environnement et que
l’inaction climatique des décideurs aggrave la situation.
Néanmoins pour Seheno être engagée c’est aussi continuer d’entretenir
la capacité à la contemplation et l’émerveillement à l’égard de la nature
pour protéger ce qui reste de biodiversité pour nous et pour les
générations futures. La terre nourrit les corps mais l’âme aussi.

EN. A short documentary shot in Nosy Be (Madagascar) and Kolkata (India) in 2008 during the production of my first album KA with our eco-responsible music label Lokanga.
The question of sustainability in our music production started with my first album. Producing eco-friendly cd packaging was not very fashionable at the time and producers were not keen to go in that direction because of the cost. I knew little about cd production at the time but with Prabhu Edouard we decided to fully invest ourself and we have not regretted it! It wasn’t easy, sometimes we wondered why the hell we wanted to do this but this experience taught us a lot about the music business, ecology, sustainability and it was really worth it.
Now the CDs of all our productions are made with recycled polycarbonate and recycled materials for the case.
Since 2008, many things have changed but there is still so much to do to preserve nature and our environment, our relationships with each other. And it’s important for us to do our part …

La question de la durabilité dans notre production musicale a commencé avec mon premier album. Produire un emballage cd écologique n’était pas très à la mode à ce moment-là et les producteurs n’étaient pas désireux d’aller dans cette direction à cause du coût. Je savais peu de choses sur la production de cd à l’époque mais avec Prabhu Edouard nous avons décidé de nous investir à fond et nous ne l’avons pas regretté! Ce n’était pas facile, parfois nous nous demandions pourquoi diable nous voulions faire ça mais cette expérience nous a beaucoup appris sur le business de la musique, l’écologie, la durabilité et cela valait le coup.
Maintenant les CD de toutes nos productions sont fabriqués avec du polycarbonate recyclé et des matériaux recyclés pour le boitier.
Depuis 2008, beaucoup de choses ont changé mais il y a encore tant de choses à faire pour préserver la nature et notre environnement, nos relations les uns les autres. Et il est important de faire notre part…
