EN. Singer-songwriter, producer, born in Madagascar, Seheno draws inspiration from her travels in other cultures and her own tradition to create music without borders.
Her third opus ‘Dance in Resilience’ follows this opening process.

In this new EP, Seheno evokes the paradox between the importance of bonds and letting go, finding one’s center to join the other and dancing hope in the face of the chaos of the world.

Produced with her long-time accomplice, the virtuoso percussionist Prabhu Edouard (Jeff Mills, H. Chaurasia, Jordi Savall, Emile Parisien…), this 3rd opus explores vast soundscapes tinged with electronics where Seheno’s suave voice subtly blends with the hypnotic grooves of tablas.
A magnetic alliance of Malagasy alternative pop with Indian grooves and electro vibrations.

In this contemplative journey called « Dance in Resilience », she evokes in Malagasy or English, the future of this fragile beauty named Madagascar with a youth in search of a new paradigm of society (Paradise Island, Lasa Mena), the resilience and melancholy of exile (Tety, Zaho sy Ny Nofy), courage despite doubts (Anio) and the place of the heart and the human in a tormented world (Ala Fo).

As introspective as it is committed, Seheno’s music is also inspired by the ancestral mystique of the big island by the textures and throbbing grooves that invite to trance.

An artist in constant evolution and singular figure in the landscape of contemporary Malagasy music, in « Dance in Resilience » Seheno unveils a wide musical horizon where she invites the Malagasy valiha master Justin Vali, the talented Popimane on the Peuhl flute and his brothers Hery and Nahr of the legendary Malagasy group Ny Railovy, to the choirs.

Seheno continues her commitments to limit the carbon footprint of her musical productions, as in her previous albums (KA, Hazo Kely).
‘Dance in Resilience’ will be released in digital as well as in recycled vinyl, eco-vinyl from recycled granules whose color depends on the mixture made in post-production.

ALA FO (From the bottom of one’s heart) – At the heart of an increasingly virtual society that weakens our ties, this song celebrates the importance of listening to the heart to reconnect with our humanity. Around Seheno’s singing, Prabhu Edouard’s tablas, Theo Croix’s violin and electronic vibrations come into orbit for a cathartic invitation to dance and trance.
The music video of the song was shot in the Drôme in collaboration with the brilliant contemporary choreographer Soa Ratsifandrihana.

Green Packaging

“Ka” her debut album was an eco-friendly packaged album, unique of its kind, using handmade paper (recycled cotton). This initiative warmly praised by French medias (Bio Consomm’ acteur, Ecolomag, Féminin Bio, Marianne…) was her tribute to the sacred dimension of nature inherited from her culture whereas the unique biodiversity of Madagascar is nowadays at stake.

“Hazo Kely” her second album’s packaging is made of 100% recycled cardboard and the CD is made with certified recycled polycarbonate. The album was entirely recorded at her home with green electricity from Enercoop.

True to her convictions about protecting life and minimizing her carbon footprint as much as possible, her new EP will be pressed on eco-vinyl (recycled granules).

FR. Auteure-compositrice interprète, productrice, née à Madagascar, Seheno s’inspire de ses voyages dans d’autres cultures et sa propre tradition pour créer une musique sans frontières.

Son troisième opus ‘Dance in Resilience’ fait suite à cette démarche d’ouverture.

Dans cette envolée contemplative nommée « Dance in Resilience », elle évoque en langue malgache ou anglaise, l’avenir de cette beauté fragile nommée Madagascar avec une jeunesse en quête d’un paradigme nouveau de société (Paradise Island, Lasa Mena), la résilience et la mélancolie de l’exil (Tety, Zaho sy Ny Nofy), le courage malgré les doutes (Anio) et la place du coeur et de l’humain dans un monde tourmenté (Ala Fo).

Albums éco-conçus

KA est un album éco-conçu, c’est un des premiers boitiers à être fabriqué à partir de coton recyclé, une démarche saluée par la presse spécialisée (Bio Consomm’ acteur, Ecolomag, Féminin Bio, Marianne…). Une manière pour elle de rendre hommage à la sacralité de la nature transmise dans sa culture, à l’heure où la biodiversité de Madagascar, unique au monde, se trouve menacée.
 

Fidèle à ses convictions pour la protection du vivant et pour limiter au possible son empreinte carbone, la pochette de son deuxième album Hazo Kely est faite à 100% de papier recyclé et le CD est fabriqué à partir de polycarbonate recyclé. L’album a été enregistré entièrement chez elle avec de l’électricité verte de chez Enercoop.
